Neighborhood
*** 🏘️ The Neighborhood *** The Trophy House sits on Fisher Street in one of Norwood's most storied residential blocks — quiet, tree-lined, and steeped in history that most visitors never expect to find. Your famous neighbor. Right next door is Oak View — a grand 1870 Second Empire mansion that served as the Governor's Mansion of Massachusetts in 1929 and once hosted Presidents William Howard Taft and Calvin Coolidge, Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff, and artist John Singer Sargent. You'll catch its striking Mansard roofline from the Trophy House porch every evening at sunset. It's the kind of backdrop that makes a ordinary Tuesday feel like something more. Norwood Center. Picture the ideal New England town center — dignified architecture, local dining, boutique shopping, and community gatherings — and you'll find it five minutes from the front door. The Norwood Theatre, a beautifully restored 1927 movie palace, now serves as a performing arts center presenting live music, comedy, and family entertainment. It anchors the Town Common, where a farmers' market runs on summer Tuesdays and outdoor concerts draw the whole neighborhood. Food & Drink. Norwood punches well above its weight for a town its size. Local favorites within minutes of the house include: - Byblos — Lebanese cuisine, consistently packed, beloved by locals - Lewis' Bar & Grill — casual, lively, great burgers - Bar 'Cino — Italian, white tablecloth, date-night worthy - Norwood Diner — classic New England breakfast, no frills, no disappointment - The Feisty Greek — fresh, flavorful, family-friendly - Brookside Cafe — great weekend brunch stop For the kids. Launch Trampoline Park is an indoor family entertainment facility with wall-to-wall trampolines, a ninja course, dodgeball, basketball, and an arcade — a perfect rainy afternoon solution. Winsmith Mill Market, housed in a historic 19th-century mill building, is a multi-vendor market specializing in antiques, vintage goods, and unique finds — ideal for browsing between matches. Day trips made easy. Boston is 35–40 minutes by commuter rail from Norwood Central — giving your group access to Fenway, the waterfront, the North End, and the Freedom Trail on non-match days. For outdoor breaks, Blue Hills Reservation is nearby, offering hiking trails and sweeping views of the greater Boston area. Norwood is the kind of place that surprises visitors — a real town with real character, not a suburb built around a highway exit. It's the right base for the World Cup, and a genuinely great place to land.
